On April 22, Steve Yezek, an EMT and member of the Grafton Fire Department, came across Iowa DNR employees doing a prescribed burn south of Forest City near Hayfield.
The 20th Annual Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Firefighters Memorial in Coralville (Exit 242 off Interstate 80).
I mentioned last month that Al Esch, Brad Yeager and I would be traveling to Washington, DC to meet with our legislators. The trip went well and we had good meetings with each office.
Spring has been filled with a variety of IFA activities. Wendy, Brad and I traveled to Washington DC to meet with our Iowa senators and representatives at the end of April.
More than 200 firefighters took part in a training burn hosted by the Larabee Fire Department and coordinated by Fire Training Consultants as they burned an old grain bin.

At press time, only one day remained in the 2014 legislative session. The final days of the session, leading up to the 60th and final day, brought about a whirlwind of activities.
