Hay bale fire

The Denison Volunteer Fire Department was called out to hay bales burning in high winds on April 26. There were about 26 bales on a flat bed semi trailer.

Controlled burn

On April 22, Steve Yezek, an EMT and member of the Grafton Fire Department, came across Iowa DNR employees doing a prescribed burn south of Forest City near Hayfield.

Legislative issues

At press time, only one day remained in the 2014 legislative session. The final days of the session, leading up to the 60th and final day, brought about a whirlwind of activities.
