Busy month

It has been a busy month for the board. We have been to several years of service award banquets around the state. This past month I attended banquets in Edgewood, Quimby, and Battle Creek honoring firefighters for their years of service. Congratulations to all firefighters that are celebrating milestones this year, we appreciate your dedication to the fire service.

Firefighter Day on the Hill was held on Feb 1st this year and was well attended. The chili cook off was a success with six contestants entered from Dunkerton / Jesup, Sigourney, Iowa Falls, Radcliffe, Waucoma, and Holland. Congratulations to Dunkerton / Jesup on winning first place in this year’s chili cook off. Many great conversations took place during the cook off discussing this year’s legislative agenda with our legislatures. I was also introduced in the House that morning during opening ceremonies by Representative Meggers.

Mid-Year is getting closer and the deadline for the banquet registration is Monday, March 20th so get your tickets soon. We’re still gathering raffle and auction items, if you know someone that would like to donate let me know and we can get in contact with them.

As we move through the legislative session, please pay attention to the constant contact emails and the Facebook page for updates and call to actions. The call to actions are generally very time sensitive and very important to getting our point across to the legislatures. When you get a call to action, please follow through with an email or phone call to the appropriate legislatures.

As of February, we are still in need of a Convention City for 2024. If your city has any interest, please give me a call to discuss the details. Until next month, serve with pride.

IFA President
