IFA awarded a SAFER grant

Greetings Fellow Firefighters,

I hope that everyone is staying healthy! By the time you read this

article, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. There is no denying the

importance of family within the fire service. Thanksgiving is the time to

reflect and give thanks not only to your immediate family but also your

extended family in the fire service. The support system starts at home.

Having that strong support system at home sets the anchor for a long and

rewarding career.

I am excited to say that the IFA has been awarded a SAFER grant.

This grant will be used to help with the ever growing issues many

departments face with recruitment and retention. There are many beneficial

incentives to offer our members. We will have more information to get out

as we progress through the setup process.

On November 8th and 9th the board will take part in the annual

States Networking Meeting. We host this workshop every year and never

disappoints. Hearing how our surrounding states manage the ups and

downs of their organizations continues to be beneficial for the IFA. We all

learn so much from each other and the board always takes a lot away from

the meeting. Each state takes pride in bettering their organizations.

We will have a board meeting on Sunday, November 10th. The

meeting will be held at the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau starting at

9am.
