Memorial service a huge success
Greetings Fellow Firefighters - The IFA Memorial service on June 8th was a huge success yet again. Thank you to all that helped with this year’s ceremony. I would strongly encourage you to attend if you haven’t. As some of you may have heard, the memorial is in desperate need to expand. We have plans in place to add new walls. With that, does come with a hefty cost. To help alleviate some of the cost, the memorial committee has decided to bring forward a new memorial print for purchase. These prints were presented at midyear and I will say the artist has done an
amazing job. If you are interested in purchasing a print, please go to the IFA website for an order form. Get them ordered soon. Help Us Expand the Iowa Firefighters Memorial Wall. The Iowa Firefighters Memorial in Coralville stands as a powerful tribute to the past, present, and future of Iowa’s fire service.
As most of you may have heard, the IFA Board finally got our LOSAP (length of service awards program) passed and signed by the governor. We are happy to finally have this go through and hope to get as many departments signed up to participate in the program. We will have more details and suggestions for you and your department on how to manage the program in your community. Thank you to the past and current board members that have worked so hard over the years to make this happen. Also, a huge thank to the Pederson Consulting team for their commitment and passion for not giving up on that bill.
On June 7th the Convention Committee met at the Solon Fire Station. We are working towards finalizing plans as convention nears closer. Please take the time and pre-register for the convention. This will greatly help us out with ordering merchandise. The campsites are filling up fast. Get online and sign up now.
