Pierre Rescue/Dive Squads Train with Fishing Pro

The Pierre Fire Department would like to extend a huge shout out to Tom Huynh Fishing, Shawn Grams and Curt Underhill-The Fishing Crew for their assistance and expertise in our recent Rescue & Dive Squad Training.  Once the weather rolled through, we were able to place mannequins in the water at Down’s Marina and simulate emergency situations in which we may be called on.  Tom Huyhn is an expert on forward facing sonar and just happened to be in town to show us some tips and tricks on locating targets in the water.  This new technology can not only help us locate a target in the water quickly but also assist us in getting a diver on that target to retrieve it without having to conduct search patterns.  We greatly appreciate these gentlemen taking the time out of their day give us some pointers!  Also, thank you to Jason at Down's Marina for being very accommodating in letting us use the Marina to train in. – Submitted by Trevor Lightfield, Rescue Captain.
