Face it, the fire department is much more than fighting fires. We are the ones that get called when others simply don’t know what to do or who to call. Whether it’s the cat in the tree or a leaking tank. My department is often called to assist the ambulance. I must admit, I do enjoy these calls.

Things to Learn

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas holiday and safe New Year.

   Any resolutions?

Here is a New Year resolution for you. Go learn something new in the fire service.

Loading Hose

I wonder how many times our hose gets handled in its lifetime. On some of our trucks it may not move very much. On others it is unloaded and loaded on every call.

Annual election

The annual election is in the history books and I was able to “pull out” a win for the position of President of the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighter’s Association.
